Hotel Review: Sinae Phuket Hotel

Hotel Name: Sinae Phuket Luxury Hotel

Classification: 5 stars

Book this hotel: sinaephuket.com

Sinae Phuket is a luxury, boutique 5 star hotel located on the eastern coast of Phuket, on a small island called Koh Sire. It’s pretty close to Old Town as well, which is just a 15 min drive.

This hotel offers stunning views on the Andaman bay and you can even see Koh Phi Phi and other islands from the comfort of your studio with your own private pool. Read below what I thought of my stay at Sinae Phuket Luxury Hotel.

Hotel Grounds

Tropical plants surround stairs that lead up to hotel rooms at the Sinae phuket hotel

The design of this boutique hotel represents a traditional Thai fisherman’s village, as can be seen by the intricate wooden decor and the bamboo lamps hanging in the rooms and around the hotel property.

The Sinae Phuket Luxury hotel is located on top of a hill and to reach the rooms, the pathways are a little steep so there are buggy’s bringing you around the property, which is super convenient. You can easily call a buggy from the hotel app, which they ask you to download during check-in.

However, I did want some exercise during my stay so I actually just used the stairs quite a bit to go up and down, as well as hiking all the way up towards the Hilltop cafe.

There are 64 private pool villas, which have 1 or 2 bedrooms and offer a stunning view of the Andaman ocean. I was told that they are extending the resort and are building more rooms as well as a restaurant so I think it will make the hotel even better, especially when more dining options are added.

Lobby

The lobby is small and cozy and also features those wooden touches and bamboo details. It has a beautiful view as well over the bay. It’s not a ‘grand’ lobby like you would normally see in the big, luxury resorts, but it’s more boutique style which I liked.

Pool & Gym

There isn’t really a big pool on the property as all the rooms are fitted with a private pool. However, there is a larger pool at the spa, so if you want to do some laps, you can go there.

There is also a small gym close to the lobby, which has a few treadmills, a weight station and some more cardio machines.

The Spa

The Sindh Spa interior at Sinae Phuket Hotel

The Sindh Spa is located at the top of the hill and they offer various types of massages and treatments, including facials and nail spa's. They also have specific packages for couples.

I booked myself an Aroma Relaxing massage and honestly, it was so good that I almost fell asleep 😂. The masseuse was kind and warm and she had excellent skills!

The prices are a bit more expensive than more local ones, but that’s to be expected from a 5 star hotel. Also here, the service was warm and friendly, and they serve you a welcome drink before your treatment and a tea of your choice afterwards.

The Room

View from the private pool at the Sinae Phuket Hotel

I got a Pool Studio that was spacious and cozy, adorned with wooden accents, bamboo lamps and natural stone details, such as the stone wall above the bed, which looks quite stunning with the backlights as well.

Of course, the main attraction is the gorgeous private pool that overlooks the sea. I actually thought the pool was quite big - oftentimes these private pools are pretty small. There is also a lovely sitting area at the pool and I could have spent hours there gazing onto the bay! I spent two mornings there, drinking my coffee and gazing to the ocean.

Bathroom at a Pool Studio at the Sinae Phuket Hotel

The bathroom is convenient and stylish - I loved the stone sink with the brass faucets. There is no bathtub in my room, but honestly, who needs a bathtub in Thailand? I also thoroughly enjoyed the bathroom amenities from the Thai brand Thann.

Then there is, of course, the bed! The bed is really comfy and massive. They placed a big octopus plush on the bed too that’s wearing a hat - I really love these kinds of fun touches.

Another plus: the contents of the minibar is free - it contains mostly sodas. There is also a coffee machine and a kettle.

Food

Breakfast

Breakfast buffet at the Sai Bistro & Bar at the Sinae Phuket Hotel

The breakfast buffet is served at the main restaurant, Sai Bistro & Bar, which is located next to the lobby. They’ve got quite a lot of choice, both Asian and Western options. There’s also an egg station and a noodle station. The omelette they made me was delicious and the bread they have is sourdough, which always makes me happy!

I also tried the noodles from the noodle station and it was actually my favourite breakfast dish.

The coffee is from a machine, which to be honest, is not my favourite thing in the world. So, I’d recommend getting a coffee at the Hilltop cafe instead.

Floating Breakfast

There’s also an option to book a floating breakfast that they will place in your pool, which is of course super instagram-worthy. You can book it directly from the app too.

Dining

Phuket style spring rolls at Sai Bistro at the Sinae Phuket Hotel

You can have dinner at Sai Bistro & Bar, where they serve Thai food as well as Western dishes. I tried their Thai/Phuket style food which was delicious, especially the Phuket noodles with seafood. I liked the vibe of the restaurant which is casual chic.

You’ll probably spot the resident cat at this restaurant that is always sleeping on one of the chairs.

Hilltop Cafe

View at dusk on the Hilltop cafe at the Sinae Hotel Phuket

A panoramic terrace cafe sits at the top of the hill at Sinae Phuket Hotel. The view is breathtaking to be honest - the view on the bay is quite spectacular. Unfortunately, during my stay it was raining and cloudy but I reckon on a clear day it’s fantastic. They told me that you can even see Koh Phi Phi from here and the other surrounding islands.

The cafe serves both Starbucks coffee and ‘normal’ coffee. People who don’t stay at the hotel can also visit it though they do have to pay 500 THB, which 100% can be used as credit for drinks and food at Hilltop Cafe

You might also see a monkey climbing the trees at the terrace!

Service

I arrived from Phuket airport to the hotel and was swiftly brought from the concierge to the hotel lobby by buggy. The front desk staff greeted me warmly and offered me a welcome drink and a snack (which were delicious), as well as a cold towel.

All the staff are exceptionally kind and warm and really do their best to accommodate you in all places of the hotel. The buggy drivers that drive you around are always smiley and ask you how you are doing.

At the restaurant the staff were attentive and friendly and everyone always greets you with a warm smile, as is so inherent in the Thai hospitality culture and it’s no different at the Sinae Phuket Luxury Hotel.

Location

The beach at Sinae Phuket Hotel

Sinae Phuket Luxury Hotel is located about an hour drive from the airport, on an island called Koh Sire, which is linked by road to the main Phuket island. Even though the hotel feels secluded and peaceful, it’s only a 15 minute drive to Phuket old town, where you can find a bunch of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops and of course the Sunday Night Market. Therefore, I feel like it has the best of both worlds!

As you’re right at the bay, you can take a walk around the bay and on the beaches that surround it, which is a lovely thing to do either in the morning or at sunset.

Sinae Residences

Close to the Sinae Phuket Hotel, they also have another property which are called the Sinae Residences. These are gorgeous private villa’s with 5 bedrooms each, a huge living room and dining room, as well as a infinity pool with sea view and a rooftop terrace. The location is superb, especially if you are seeking tranquility and peace away from the hustle and bustle of Phuket, even though you’re still very close to Phuket Old Town.

Currently, they have two villa’s in operation, but they are building a few more. They are available for rent as well as for sale.

You can check the prices and book one of these stunning villa’s via this link.

PROs & CONs

PROS

  • Beautiful and lush property with stunning panoramic views on the bay

  • Villa’s all with private pools, which were pretty big. All rooms have a beautiful view on the bay

  • The interior design of the villa’s and the hotel itself are stunning. I really loved the wooden accents, the bamboo lamps and the natural stone touches and other traditional Thai details

  • Service was outstanding - staff is friendly and warm and they do their best to accommodate you,

  • Breakfast was great - loads of options, as well as an egg station and a noodle station

  • The location is excellent - the view on the bay is amazing and it’s secluded so it’s peaceful. But you’re still really close to Old town, which is just a 15 minute drive, where you can find more restaurants, shops, cafes as well as a cool Sunday night market. So you get the best of both worlds.

  • The app is super convenient - it let’s you order the buggy’s, you can chat with the front desk, and you can order food from there as well as book spa treatments. I think this is extremely handy and I haven’t seen many hotels offering this so far.

CONS

  • The food was decent but nothing special I would say. I would recommend going to Old Town for dinner instead.

  • There is only one restaurant, which is not much choice, especially if you’re staying longer than a few days. However, I understood that they are building an extension to the hotel which will also include another restaurant.

  • I was slightly weirded out that when I went to the Hilltop cafe in the morning at 10am, which said it would open at 10am, the staff came around 10:20 and then informed me that it would take another 20 minutes to open. But then don’t say that it opens at 10am - especially when I’m waiting to get my morning coffee 😂
