The Standard opened it’s latest hotel in Pattaya in October 2025. Having stayed at the Standard hotel in Hua Hin earlier in the year, I was excited to check out the new addition!

Note: The below review summarises my independent thoughts on my stay at the The Standard Hotel Na Jomtien. This isn’t a collaboration with this hotel as I stayed there on my own cost. Hotel Grounds

Design

Hotel gardens at the Standard hotel, Na Jomtien Pattaya

Just as the Standard Hotel in Hua Hin, the Standard in Pattaya has a certain coolness factor that you don’t easily encounter at many other hotels. I just love the stylish vibe of this hotel, that never feels pretentious somehow, just effortlessly chill.

Artsy furniture at the hotel lobby at the Standard Hotel Na Jomtien

I loved the curvy white walls in the hallways, the airy and open lobby space and the colourful furniture and art pieces that are scattered across the property.

The tropical lushness of the hotel gardens was another thing I adored, there’s just something about all that greenery that relaxes your soul.

Pool

The Pool was located right before where the beach area started. The pool area was pleasant and there were plenty of sun loungers. It was never super busy, which may have been because I was visiting right before high season started. I liked the colours of the sun loungers, which aesthetically fit perfectly with the bright blue pool water.

There also appeared to be what is going to be a spa - unfortunately it wasn’t open yet.

Gym

Very decent size for a hotel gym! There was also a squat rack and two benches for the weights. As the hotel is new, all the gym equipment was also new, which is always nice.

Room

I got a room on the top floor with a view over the property gardens. It was spacious and thoughtfully designed. Especially the lighting design is done particularly cool - there was a bulb on one wall that you could set to lighting settings like ‘sunset’ and ‘sunrise’ which gave off a warm glow. Other lights on the other wall were dimmable, another positive for me!

I especially loved the tiles and colours in the bathroom, which was comfortably big.

There was also a lounge couch with a small table. Maybe one small thing I was missing was a small table and chairs, where one might enjoy some room service or do a bit of work - I believe there was still plenty of space to fit in a small table.

Another big plus was the existence of a kettle and a few bags of specialty drip coffee! I have seen this a few times in some hotels in Japan, but it’s the first time in Thailand. It was so nice to make my own coffee in the morning, sit on the balcony and watch the sun rise.

Food

Breakfast

Breakfast buffet at the Standard Hotel in Pattaya

The breakfast buffet was served at the main restaurant next to the pool, called Sereia Thai Coastal Grill restaurant. The buffet had all the main things you would expect from a breakfast buffet, and you can order eggs and noodle soup separately.

Dinner

I had dinner twice at the Sereia Thai Coastal Grill restaurant and thought it was excellent. I had a Pad Thai with a large river prawn and the latter was exceptionally juicy.

The other restaurant in the Hotel is called Esmé Beach Club, where they served Mexican-inspired dishes. I ordered the chicken here with Hokkaido pumpkins and it was outstanding! I also had a coconut flan dessert which was similarly very delicious. Highly recommend going here, and it’s lovely sitting close to the ocean. However, one aspect that bothered me was the music was way too loud in my opinion.

The Juice Cafe

Right at the lobby you’ll find a small cafe that serves coffee, juices and other drinks as well as some small pastries. Not only is this very clever in terms of added revenue for the hotel, but it also adds tremendous value for guests like me that value a decent cup of coffee. I noticed they use Pacamara beans which are really quite decent. I was happy to pay every day for a nice flat white and sit in the lobby to enjoy my coffee.

Service

The staff were friendly and kind, nothing short of what you would expect from Thai hospitality. As I got an opening offer rate, I also got 3 free welcome drinks that I could get at the Esme Beach Club.

Tip: The Standard hotels are now part of the Hyatt hotel chain - you can therefore use your Hyatt membership for discounts, so don’t forget to mention your number during check-in/check-out!

Location

Orange lounge chairs on the beach at The Standard Pattaya

The Standard Hotel is located in the Na Jomtien area of Pattaya, which is about a 15 minute drive to the city of Pattaya. As such, it is quiet and peaceful, yet still not far from where all the action is taking place.

The hotel is right next to the beach, perfect to watch the sunset while lounging (maybe with your pet?!) and sipping a nice cocktail.

PROS & CONS

PRO’s

  • Stunning hotel design, with well-kept tropical gardens and modern and trendy interior design

  • Beautiful and large hotel room, with comfortable and huge bed, fantastic lighting, and nice balcony

  • Great coffee at the Juice cafe - coffee beans from Pacamara coffee roasters

  • Both restaurants in the hotel serve amazingly delicious food; I especially enjoyed the food at Esmé Beach Club

  • Wifi was fast and stable - an underrated aspect of a hotel stay! (Especially for someone who works remotely)

  • Dogs and other pets are allowed at the hotel, which I thought was so fun to see all the dogs parading around with their owners!

CON’s

  • This may have changed already, but when I was there the Spa was not open yet. A shame, because I remember my massage at the Standard in Hua Hin and it was one of the best massages I ever had!

  • While you do have decent coffee available at the Juice cafe at the lobby, the coffee at the breakfast was subpar.

  • The location is okay, but it’s not very close to many things, so unless you get a Grab or taxi to the city, you basically just stay in the hotel.

  • The breakfast buffet is decent but not amazing.
