Best Specialty Coffee in Haarlem

This blog post has been update in March 2025

For coffee lovers, Haarlem is a pretty good place to be. There are a number of specialty coffee places that make some amazing coffee concoctions.

Below you'll find a list of my favourite places for a cup of coffee in Haarlem, The Netherlands!

If you're a coffee enthusiast, then you probably also like brunch. Check out my blog post about the best brunch places in Haarlem.

Mogador

mogador

This is my hands down my favorite spot for a cappuccino, as here it's really just about the coffee. The place itself has got a nice vibe as well; it's a cozy cafe to relax and sip on a cup of warm goodness. It's located right in the center of the city. If you like having something sweet with your coffee, no worries! They also have a nice selection of cakes and pastries.

You can even get a quick espresso at the bar for just 1 euro, which you can down real quick like a true Italian. After all, that's why it's called Espresso!

Native

Native is a cute little cafe, that has a funky looking logo and serves excellent coffee. In the weekends, it can be quite busy, though usually, you can always find a little spot to squeeze in.

They also serve breakfast and have a great selection of homemade cakes and other baked goods.

La Maru

La Maru is a cute brunch and specialty coffee cafe located right in the city centre of Haarlem. They have coffee from Five Ways, a famous coffee roaster in Amsterdam. They also bake fresh sourdough bread, so you can also buy a loaf of super tasty bread 🥖

For breakfast and lunch, they serve different sandwiches and have a selection of fresh pastries. I also liked that they had a big co-working table where you can work from. The wifi is not super great though, but for some light or offline working it’s perfect.

Mica Coffee Bar

This extremely cute coffee bar is located in a small street close to the city center of Haarlem. It's run by two lovely ladies -sisters, actually - who really take care in brewing a nice cup of coffee. The coffee is served in beautiful cups that look like they are made of marble (which they are not of course, but it looks cool!). They also serve some homemade snacks and sweets, such as grilled cheese, cookies & cakes.

Kohi is a really cute and tiny coffee shop to the north of Haarlem city centre. It’s actually located inside a primary school! Which must be really amazing for the parents whose kids go there 😅

Next to amazing specialty coffee, they also serve tosti’s - aka grilled cheese sandwiches as well as daily special soups and pastries.

  • Opening Hours: Mon - Sat: 8AM - 3PM (Sundays closed)

Jules coffee & concept

A cozy coffee place next to the river; Jules coffee & concept serves top-notch specialty coffee, amazing pastries (such as a pistachio croissant 😍) and it’s also a concept store. Definitely worth checking out!

Ax Specialty Coffee

This cozy coffee spot is very close to the train station of Haarlem and serves excellent specialty coffee. The place is tiny so there aren’t many seats, but you’ll find some great banana bread to go with your coffee!
